Who is Applewood?
Applewood is Wil Hodge and Shelia Quattlebaum, two singer/songwriters from the Atlanta, Georgia area.
Wil Hodge ...While writing in Nashville with some of the best writers in the business today, Wil has learned the art of "writing clean". This philosophy has led to a first- place win in "Song Mania," a national novelty songwriting competition with his song "Cock-A-Doodle-Do," as well as first-place in the Georgia Music Industry's song competition in 2006 with "Another Heart To Feed." Atlanta country stations are playing Wil's song "Only A Heart" recorded by Darin Price as well as Wil's own recording of "Cock-A-Doodle-Do." along with "Another Heart To Feed" recorded by Marta Koonce, and a song called "Old Dirt Road" recorded by Rachel Farley. His song "Before Love Was A Word," written with Ashley Harris, appears on Ashley's new CD "Unfinished Dreams." As an engineer he has had two national number- one singles recorded by the Ying Yang Twins. Today Wil engineers and produces artists from his own studio and runs the music program at The Swallow At The Hollow. He has served as senior judge for the regional Colgate Country Showdown talent search for the last five years.
Shelia Quattlebaum ...Take a little country, add a little blues, and mix it with some high-lonesome bluegrass....Shake it all up...and you get Shelia Quattlebaum. Her voice has been described as "earthy, silk gravel, very real." Shelia has been playing guitar, singing, and entertaining in public since she was 13 years old. While growing up, she performed every weekend in a country band with her father. She says she learned how to do harmony from her father just by listening to him. She’s had her own bands and taken the stage from coast-to-coast. In the early 90s, she was part of a successful female duo called "Heart Over Mind" who played out West for awhile and took first place in a True Value Hardware/Colgate competition in Arizona. For the past 6 years Shelia has been focusing on her songwriting and currently pitches to Major and Indie labels and artists. She's had several indie cuts and major-label holds. Shelia also served as Vice-President of the Georgia Music Industry Association (GMIA) in the recent past. She has performed at such venues as The Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell, Georgia and the Bluebird Café in Nashville, Tennessee, two of the most respected venues for songwriters.
